Owner and Maker, Renee Reichhoff designs and offers handmade goods and home décor. She began Honest Lemon in 2020, after leaving a career in manufacturing to stay at home with her children and devote more time and energy to her family. This is a dream come true for her. Supporting small businesses like Honest Lemon, means you’re supporting a family. You’re helping to pay a mortgage, utilities, piano lessons, and filling up that gas tank.
Hey, my name is Renee. All handmade goods are created at my home in Southcentral Wisconsin. I’ve always loved interior decorating, planning parties, and overthinking the smallest details.
You can find me re-arranging various rooms at home multiple times a year. Or “over-doing it” at holidays. Birthdays are always well planned and no visual detail spared.
Channeling this love into creating home décor, is an outlet that has saved me in more ways than one. Originally, Honest Lemon started in 2018 as a blog, where I used writing to work through the rough time our family went through after our son was born. It is a long story and you can read about it here.
I get asked a lot, “what does Honest Lemon mean?”, and I get embarrassed or timid because it is a loaded question and I wonder if they really want to know. Basically, it means the truth isn’t always sweet.
But, in more detail…
Writing was a way to express my feelings in the most Honest way. Everything my son and family went through sucked. It sucked hard. My goal was to share our story without the rainbows and butterflies, because “the truth isn’t always sweet”.
Even today, people ask “So… he is ok now?” and my varies depending on my mood… My son will have life long issues, and it’s really a waiting game to see what is next. There isn’t a cut and dry answer.
People want that though.
They need that.
They need it all to be wrapped up in a pretty red bow.
And it just isn’t like that.
I’ve grown. I know my worth. I’ve built strength from starting Honest Lemon from the ground up. And I’m so happy to be able to share that with you.
